Arrow of Light and a Wolf

Last night was a special pack meeting in our home. Caleb got his wolf badge and Lance got his Arrow of Light. Our Den leader set up for a special presentation for the boys. The Order of the Arrow came and helped present them their awards. The worked really hard to get all of the requirements to get these advancements in the Cub Scout program
Here is Caleb being silly when receiving his award.

Another ER Trip

Caleb doesn't have good luck. Last night he fell out of bed (the bottom bunk) and woke up crying. He was complaining about his head hurting. I asked him if his hit it and he didn't know. I gave him some medicine and didn't think to much about it. He then threw up which made me think I needed to watch him. He did ok for a while and I thought he was doing better until he threw up again. I started to worry but really didn't want to take him in. When he threw up the third time we called our insurance help line for so advise. The suggested that we take him in but because it was so late we would need to go to the ER. I really didn't want to sit in a ER at 11pm at night and pay hundreds of dollars. We decided to watch him through the night. We woke him up several times and he seemed to be doing ok.
This morning we woke up and he was watching t.v. and said his head felt fine and he was ok to go to swim team. So we went to swim team as usual. We were there for about 20 minutes when his swim coach came up to me to let me know that he was in the office sick and that he had thrown up. I now am officially worried. I got to the office and he looked awful. He was white as a ghost and very sweaty. When I started talking to him his eyes kept rolling back into his head. His pupils were pin points and he wasn't responding appropriately. He kept saying he was hot. I was really freaking out and the swim team staff called the ambulance.
The ambulance came and checked him out and suggested we go to the ER. I just wanted to take him but per their policy they couldn't let me. By this time John had gotten there and he followed Caleb to the hospital and I stayed and took the rest of the kids home.
When I got to the ER Caleb looked so much better. He was talking and watching t.v. They did a CT scan and he has a concussion. They made him stay until he could keep fluids down. We left with instructions for him to take it easy for a week. I guess this will teach me a lesson to not wait so long to get my kids check out when they are injured. I am assuming that the sit up they did at practice was to much for him. After talking with him I realized how out of it he was. He thought he got to ride in a fire truck to the hospital. He had no idea it was an ambulance. It will be tricky keeping him still for a week but we don't want a relapse.
Off he goes to the hospital

GCU's mascot aka John

Grand Canyon University was sponsoring an event for Native American high school basketball teams and it was held at US Airways Center. John knows the woman who was the coordinator of the event and she needed someone to be GCU's mascot. John was the right size so he got to do it. It was pretty fun except that Briauna was totally freaked out by the mascots. I would ask her if she wanted to see dad and she would say yes and then no and would cower behind me. It was so funny. They kids all tried to tell her it was John but she didn't care.

Here is the Phoenix Sun's Gorilla
Here is John.

Airsoft Gun

Garrett is great at saving up his money for something he wants. He had been wanting a new airsoft gun. John and Garrett did some shooting practice in the backyard. They had fun and john got a wound from getting hit in the forehead. I guess that will teach him to not play with Garrett.

Knights of the Pueblo 2010

It is Cub Scout Day Camp again and with me being a leader I got to go for 2 days. I was able to be with Caleb one day then Lance the second day.
The first day with Caleb we got to go to crafts and make out den flag and castle.
Den 13

Next we went to play games. The did volleyball with a parachute and the kickball.

Just hanging out in our den area during dinner

This is the kings sword and only one knight can pull it out.

Caleb loved the BB guns.

Seth and Caleb
Caleb also loved archery

Day 2 I got to be with the boys I work with in scouts the Webelos. We started our day out with archery which Lance really liked.

In crafts they did leather working.
Water balloon fights are tradition between dens. Lunch time is perfect for attacks.

The got to make a sword which of course the boys loved.

You can't have swords without a fight scene.

Parachute volleyball was very hard.

Den 3 which was made up of 3 different Webelos den in the phoenix area.

You got to love shooting things.

It was a lot of fun but exhausting. Thank goodness mother nature was kind to us and the weather was really nice.

Reptiles

Today we went to the library for their summer activity programs. This week it was all about reptiles. I knew he boys would live it but I wasn't sure about the girls. Turns out the girls really enjoyed it as well. This guy here was huge.
He had all types of snakes and lizards.

I was shocked the girls touched this huge python snake.

They were not scared at all.

The boys kept going back to keep asking questions and touching the snake.

Jeepers

I had signed up for coupons on the Internet so doing activities this summer would be more affordable. One of them was from Jeepers. It is an indoor amusement park. It was for younger kids but for a dollar a kids for all day rides it was worth it.
The kids loved this ride.

Lance and Caleb enjoyed the bumper cars.

Jenna was so excited she was tall enough.

Raelyn and Broedy went with us. It helped the kids have more fun.

Jenna was very nice and went on many rides with Briauna.

It was a fun activity but it was definitely for littler kids.

Diamondbacks

We were able to get a bunch of free tickets for the Diamondbacks game so last night we took the whole family and our friends to the game. It was a lot of fun and the won. We had to walk a few blocks but the kids had fun.

I love going to the games because all that is going on around you. The organ man always makes it fun.

The kids did good but I am positive it was because of all the snack food we brought.

Jenna and dad

Garrett made some friends and chatted with them all night.

Caleb never smiles for me.

The walk back to the car was pretty fun. The kids made a train. Mr. Bedford was the engine.

The even went up a ramp to make it a little more fun.
