President Hinkley

Last night when I had heard that President Hinkley had passed away John and I started searching the web to see if it was true. It was a strange feeling. I don't remember any other death of a prophet affecting me the way this did. He has been the leader of the church the whole time I have been an adult and paid attention to these types of things. He was such a wonderful man and I loved listening to him speak. I can only imagine how happy he must be. I am thankful for him and his service and he will be greatly missed.

Random Facts

I have been tagged and I have to say this one has kinda stumped me. I will try my best. I think I am pretty boring but oh well here goes my 6 random facts.

1. I was REALLY shy as a kid. So shy I would not talk to a friend I had not seen all summer, call and order pizza, etc. It has only been in the last few years that I have been more outgoing. John has rubbed off on me a little bit. I still have times I want to revert back but have to mentally tell myself to go up and say hi to someone or meet someone new.

2. I play/played the violin. I started in 4th grade and played through my senior in high school. I still have my violin but don't make the time to play. It was something I really enjoyed but I chose to to be a nurse so my senior I had to quit so I could attend the nursing program full time.

3. I started going to nursing school in high school. My school distrist had a vocational school that I attended half day my junior and senior year for nursing. My second semester of my senior year I only attended the vocational school. It was hard and I gave up a lot of the fun senior year activities but I got my LPN after I graduated. Now I am so greatful. It greatly help when I went back and got my RN( it did not take as long).

4. I met John 2 weeks after I sent my boyfreind on a mission. I started going to young single adult activities to keep busy and I met John. I instantly liked him and wanted to get to know him more. My first thought was "What am I going to tell Richie(my boyfriend)." Two months later we got engaged and 3 1/2 months after that we were married.

5. I love the Anne of Green Gables movies. I first saw them when I was a young girl and instantly loved them. I got the VCR tapes for a Christmas and then when they came out on DVD I had to get them. John is even nice and will watch them with me when I am in a sappy mood.

6. I have worn glasses since 2nd grade. Not the cute ones of today but thick ones that made my eyes look huge. I was the ultimate nerd and had braces and head gear to complete package while in junior high. Thank goodness I got contacts at 14yrs and now have a hard time when I wear glasses. Having something on my face kind of drives me crazy.

Now I tag Rebecca, Jackie lee, Shawna
Have fun!

6 Months

January 20th Briauna turned 6 months. I cannot believe it has been that long. She has grown so much. We love everything about her. You forget how fun each new thing they do. She rolls both front to back and back to front. She giggles, smiles and makes lots of noise all the time. She loves the kids and light up when anyone talks to her. She love to be held and we love that she loves the swing. She eats everything and has just started to crab things that are close. She has come along way from 3lb 15oz and 16 1/4 inches to 10lb 10oz and 22 1/2 inches. We are so greatful for her and love that she was the surprise we could not imagine life without.

Funny stories when you have kids

The last couple of weeks the kids have been kids and if you are a parent you know they can come up with some pretty crazy things. We were doing homework and Lance and Caleb had conspired to switch homework. Lance I am sure came up with the plan because he had math and Caleb had to copy site words. They thought they were clever and just giggled and laughed when I caught them and made them switch back. Lance did not think it was fair that he did some of Caleb's and Caleb didn't do any of his.Jenna is such a girl. She loves to dress up, play with dolls and house. A friend from church gave her some stuff her daughter did not use anymore. Jenna was in heaven. She had to try on everything and undress all the barbies. We did not need any of it but Jenna loves it and plays with all of the toys. We are greatful for friends that think of Jenna.Briauna laughed the other day. It was so funny. I was dancing around with Jenna(she was in one of the new dress up outfits) and Briauna just started laughing. It was so cute I just kept dancing with the camera so I could get a good picture.John reads to the kids before bed almost every night. The boys love it. So for Christmas I got them each a book John could read to them. They are currently reading the 2nd Fablehaven. It is written by my friend's brother in law and she lent us the first one to read. My kids just love it especially Garrett. He listens to books on CD all the time and this is pretty much the same. It is about a magical preserve and it has fairies, goblins, and all kinds of creatures in it. So if that is something your kids like, I suggest it. John has spent many late night reading to them and finally he couldn't resist and he finished it without them. Now he gets to reread it to them.

Doctors

Yesterday I took Braiuna to the GI doctor for a check up. She has reflux so they like to make sure she is doing ok. Anyway, she weighed 10lb 10oz and they were not super happy with her growth. She went down on the growth scale a little so now they want me to supplement my breast milk EVERYother feeding. So that means I need to pump then feed her. I am so frustrated. I don't normally like to complain especially on my blog but man I am so mad. I am not a big person and neither is John. If you look at all of my kids none of them are big. I think she is doing great and she is content and very happy. But because she is a little small they want me to make my life more complicated than it already is. I have 5 kids I don't have time to sit and pump everyother feeding and then sit and feed her. Everyone has told me to just do what I want but being a nurse I have been trained to listen to doctors and that they know what they are talking about. I don't want to listen but I have not quite decided yet.

12 Years

It has been 12 years, 5 kids, and 2 houses and we still love to be together and love eachother. John and I celebrated 12years together on Sunday Jan. 13th. On Friday we went to dinner and a movie with FREE babysitting. Stacy and Ryan had John and I for Christmas and we got gift cards for a date. It was a fun night to spend time together. It is crazy to think it has been that many years. Sometimes I feel like we just got married. We have had fun, sad, hard, silly and great times together. I love John so much and can't imagine my life without him. I am greatful he loves me and I am excited to see what fun and wonderful things our years growing old together brings.
